Dear Families,
Welcome to third grade! My name is Jessica Nicholson. This is my 8th year teaching at TCE. I was so fortunate to work with all of our students in the computer lab for the past 4 years, and prior to that I taught 2nd grade. This is my 14th year teaching. I am very excited to begin a new year with your child in third grade.
In addition to teaching in the classroom, I also work with our Taylors Creek family to build our school wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) team. I have also produced the school yearbook for the past 4 years. I love to be involved with every aspect of our school’s success.
I get excited about trying out new techniques for creating a classroom that is conducive to all learning styles. This year, our class is fortunate to get to try out something unique! We are using alternative seating in an effort to allow the children to be free to move while learning. Every student will be using a stability ball as a chair. (Standard chairs are available as needed.) I have provided more information about this on my website, please check it out!
I will be teaching your child reading, language arts, writing, and social studies. I strongly encourage you to take the time to read with your child and allow him/her the opportunity to see you engaged in your own personal reading. You are the first and most important teacher that your child will ever know!
I look forward to getting to know you and your family and encourage you to contact me via email as often as you’d like. I will keep my Twitter posts coming daily and update our class blog with exciting events and helpful information. If you aren’t currently using a Twitter account, I am hoping to help you get one started!You will be able to see some great class activities and announcements posted. As the beginning of the year unfolds, you will receive more information on what we are working on and adding to our learning experience.
